As Odisha gears up for the final phase of its simultaneous elections on June 1, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi are set to visit the state once more to bolster their party’s campaign. Ajoy Kumar, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Odisha, shared the details with the media on Sunday.
Mallikarjun Kharge is scheduled to arrive in Odisha on May 29. His itinerary includes an election meeting in Balasore at 11 am, followed by another gathering in Bhadrak at 3 pm. After these engagements, Kharge will return.
On the following day, May 30, Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Odisha to continue the campaign efforts. He will address a public meeting in Sanamahitpur, located in the Simulia area of Balasore district, at 11 am. This visit marks Gandhi’s third trip to Odisha for the current election cycle. Previously, he initiated the Congress election campaign in Salipur, Cuttack district, on April 28 and held a rally in Balangir on May 15.
The back-to-back visits by Kharge and Gandhi are a strategic move by the Congress to strengthen their position in Odisha as the elections draw to a close. Their presence aims to energize the party’s base and sway undecided voters in these crucial final days.
