BJP to Announce New Odisha Chief Minister Soon

The BJP’s state president, Manmohan Samal, announced on Wednesday that the party’s parliamentary board would decide on the next Chief Minister of Odisha within a day or two. Samal emphasized that the chosen candidate would be one who respects and upholds the culture and traditions of Odisha, as per the party’s criteria, according to the PTI news agency.The BJP secured a majority in the Odisha Assembly, winning 78 out of the 147 seats, as confirmed by the Election Commission of India after the final vote count concluded on Tuesday. This victory marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.Naveen Patnaik, the outgoing Chief Minister, expressed his gratitude to the people of Odisha for their continuous support over the years. In his statement, Patnaik said, “I am deeply grateful to the four and a half crore people of Odisha for giving me the opportunity to serve continuously. I met the Honorable Governor and submitted my resignation from the post of Chief Minister. I will remain firmly committed to serving the people of Odisha.”The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which had been in power in Odisha since 2000, won 51 seats in this election. The Congress party secured 14 seats in the Assembly.As the BJP prepares to usher in a new leadership era, the state’s political dynamics are poised for change. The announcement of the new Chief Minister will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Odisha, aligning with the BJP’s vision for the state’s future while honoring its rich cultural heritage.
