The BJP’s Parliamentary Party will convene in New Delhi on Friday to decide on Odisha’s new chief minister. In the recent elections, the BJP broke the BJD’s 24-year hold on power by winning 78 out of 147 seats in the state Assembly. Despite three of the newly elected BJP members having prior ministerial experience in the state, the next chief minister may come from outside this group, according to a senior BJP leader quoted by PTI.Among the top contenders is Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, elected from the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency. Other notable candidates include senior MLAs Suresh Pujari, Jual Oram, and Girish Chandra Murmu. BJP’s Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi confirmed the Parliamentary Party meeting to PTI.
