The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) unveiled its ambitious manifesto, aiming to propel Odisha to the forefront of the nation by 2036. Led by BJD president Naveen Patnaik, the manifesto introduces prestigious Kalingashree and Kalinga Bhushan awards, celebrating the state’s rich cultural legacy. Patnaik assured that the manifesto, underpinned by the 5T governance model, would usher in a new era of progress and identity for Odisha.
Key highlights include a significant increase in scholarships for both genders and the creation of two lakh government jobs over the next five years. Moreover, plans for a state-of-the-art skill and entrepreneurship university, a fashion technology institute, and an AI university are on the horizon. In terms of industry, the focus is on attracting investments in cutting-edge sectors like semiconductors, IT, and AI, alongside promoting sustainable tourism.
The manifesto also addresses household needs, promising free electricity for households consuming up to 100 units and subsidized rates for those using 100 to 150 units. Middle-class families stand to benefit from initiatives such as the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, interest subvention on home loans, and scholarships for children’s education, as outlined in the manifesto.
